JCA Makos Swim Team
The JCA Makos is a co-ed swim team composed of boys and girls ages 4-18. There is no requirement for previous swimming experience, any swimming level is welcome! The only prerequisite is that each swimmer must be able to swim at least one length of a 25-yard/meter pool unassisted. The JCA does provide private and group swim lessons that may be recommended by our coaching staff if the swimmer's skills are weak for his or her age group. Since the season does not begin officially until June, there will be time to get your swimmer ready through supplemental lessons.
The JCA Makos Summer Swim Team offers an experience to swimmers and their families based upon the principles of education, the intrinsic values of sport and the benefits offered by belonging to a club team. Our swim program is athlete centered within a coach directed environment and each group plays a significant role in contributing to our team. Membership on our team offers an opportunity for fun, learning and social experiences that are not available in most other sports.
Swimming is a family sport, and it requires sacrifices of time and effort of everyone in the family. All parents will have to volunteer their time to help orchestrate swim meets, team activities, getting their swimmer to and from practice, along with paying the required fees while supporting and encouraging your swimmer's hard work. Our JCA Makos swimmers must be willing to sacrifice their time for practices and meets, while working hard in practice to develop as a swimmer and improve their ability to be conditioned and buy into the team concept which includes sportsmanship, dedication, discipline, cooperation, team spirit, pride, goal setting, and humility. This will contribute greatly to the development of a well-rounded athlete.
